STUDY ON HYDRATION OF NUCLEIC ACID COMPONENTS BY IR-SPECTROSCOPY AND SHF-DIELECTROMETRY

Summary

Dielectric permittivity and infrared spectra of nucleic acids components have been measured to elucidate the role of water in the stabilization of DNA double helical structure. The centres and degrees of hydration of adenine, thymine, ribose and phosphate groups are determined.
