Cell Engineering Developed for Apocynaceae Plant Biotechnology

Summary

    Protoplast culture and fusion techniques have been developed for four Apocynaceae species in different combinations. Hybrid cell lines obtained were studied with respect to esterase and transferase isozyme analysis, blot hybridization analysis using lemon rDNA as a probe, and results of cytogenetic analysis. Relative genetic stability of hybrid cell lines during 20 months of culture in unorganized growth conditions has been demonstrated.
