A low energy cooperative behaviour of biopolyrners is determined by collective vibnmic interactions

D. M. Hovorun

Based on results of his own investigations on stereochemicul non-rigidity of canonical nucleotide bases and Us Quantum-chemical nature and on the literature data, first of all on the conception of vibronic interactions (Rersuker, 1987), author prove that the least structural elements, bearing of cooperative properties of nucleic acids (NA) are nucleosides — John-Teller molecular structure, and low energy cooperative behaviour of NA is generally determined by a collectivization of vibronic interactions. A number of biologically significant conclusions was made. The most important of them consist in that just low energy (smaller than the energy of tliermal fluctuations under physiological temperatures) electronic-confor-mational exitations of NA, directly initiated in some way (resonance or non-resonance) through vibronicy operation by perturbation of non-adiabatic intermixing of electronic states play one of the paramount roles in various biologically important processes, which are organically caused by higli specific acts of macromolecular recognition.
