Electronic structure models of flavoproteides and mechanism of oxidases action

 

Summary

 

The electronic properties and structure of flavinadenindinucleotide (FAD) and flavinmononucleotide (FMN) and their simplified models have been calculated by the PM3 method. The geometrical structure of the redox forms of these coenzymes has been calculated and the reasons of their high oxidising ability have been pointed out. The mechanism of molecular oxygen activation by glucose oxidase under reduction to H2O2 has been discussed.
