The expression of HSP60 gene on mRNA level in the hearts of patients at the terminal stage of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) as well as in the hearts of mice with a model disease similar to human DCM has been studied. A significant increase in the HSP60 mRNA level at the early stage and subsequent drop to an initial level at the terminal stage have been shown. At the same time, the Hsp60 protein level was increasing during disease up to the last stage that gives a possibility to suppose the changes in regulation of Hsp60 synthesis or degradation at DCM progression.
